Position Summary | Department Information IU Research, Indianapolis partners with IU Indianapolis leadership, faculty, and staff to advance innovative research and creative activities that address important local and global challenges uniquely met by the research strengths on the Indianapolis campus. Specifically tasked with implementing the research goals and initiatives outlined in Pillar 2: Transformative Research and Creativity of the IU Indianapolis and IU-wide 2030 strategic plans, the unit is dedicated to supporting campus-based centers and institutes, expanding and diversifying high-impact research areas, and accelerating translational research to bridge the gap between discovery and application. Additionally, IU Research, Indianapolis prioritizes promoting community-engaged research and advancing cross-disciplinary research teams to address complex challenges through collaborative and transformative approaches. Job Summary The Faculty Fellow in Community Engaged Research (CER) will advance the IU Indianapolis 2030 strategic plan by fostering and supporting all CER across campus. This position will work in partnership with academic units, the Office of Community Engagement at IU Indianapolis, and CER colleagues at IU Bloomington and within the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI). The Faculty Fellow will ensure a coordinated, thoughtful approach to CER. The position requires demonstrated scholarship in CER through peer-reviewed publications and/or external grant support and will focus on building IU Indianapolis’ reputation as a national leader in CER and public scholarship. Responsibilities: · Advance the IU Indianapolis 2030 strategic plan goals for CER by fostering a campus-wide culture that integrates community-engaged research and public scholarship, in alignment with IU’s definition of CER and CER impacts. · Support internal networking of faculty to increase the scope, scale, and quality of CER initiatives. · Foster deeper networks and collaborations by periodically convening community-engaged scholars and practitioners to share best practices. · Develop and deliver faculty development workshops and resources to incorporate CER into research portfolios and curricula, ensuring consistent use of these materials across campus. · Establish systems to capture CER metrics related to outcomes and impacts, analyzing and reporting on these data to campus and university leadership. · Produce annual reports on CER at IU Indianapolis, highlighting progress, challenges, and future opportunities. · Enhance IU Indianapolis’ reputation as a center for CER and public scholarship by engaging with national networks, hosting events, and promoting research excellence. · Promote research dissemination through high-quality peer-reviewed outlets while also emphasizing public scholarship that ensures accessibility and public benefit. · Serve as a resource for faculty navigating the complexities of community-engaged research. · Encourage the development of authentic research partnerships that engage community members as equal partners. Additional Information This 50% administrative appointment is a 1-year renewable leadership opportunity, open to qualified IU Indianapolis faculty. |
Basic Qualifications | Qualifications EDUCATION Required · Advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent). WORK EXPERIENCE Required · Demonstrated scholarship in CER through peer-reviewed publications and/or external grant support. · Demonstrated commitment to ethical collaboration with community partners. Preferred · Experience leading faculty development efforts and interdisciplinary collaborations. · Administrative experience, particularly in research or community engagement. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered SKILLS Required · Expertise in CER principles, methodologies, and impact assessment. · Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. · Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to engage varied audiences and stakeholders. · Familiarity with IU Indianapolis’ strategic goals and experience aligning programs with institutional priorities. · Proven ability to build networks and foster collaborations among faculty, external partners, and community members. |
