Position Summary
The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research conducts basic science and translational research within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. The Wells Center houses more than 300 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees seeking answers to the most pressing questions related to childhood illness.

With the collaboration between scientists and physicians, the center aims to increase knowledge of causes and mechanisms of serious pediatric diseases. Our goal is to develop innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sick children in Indiana and beyond.

The laboratory of Dr. Ngoc Tung Tran at the Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in gene editing and hematopoiesis. The successful candidate will contribute to an NIH-funded research project focused on developing therapeutic approaches to treat bone marrow failure in patients with Fanconi Anemia.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to gene editing in hematopoietic cells and animal models.
  • Perform animal studies, including handling, treatment, and tissue collection.
  • Collaborate with other researchers to advance the project’s scientific goals.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and prepare data for presentations, publications, and grant reports.
  • Contribute to a productive and collegial laboratory environment.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Hematology, or a related biomedical field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with animal models.
  • Expertise in gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9) and hematopoietic systems.
  • Strong work ethic, high level of motivation, and commitment to scientific excellence.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
