Position Summary	The Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems is a tenure-track, full-time, 10-month academic position. The position is responsible for a 12-hour per semester teaching load in Management Information Systems and related areas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A productive program of research and scholarly publication is expected which may be supported by a reduction in teaching load. Active involvement in service functions is also expected. The IU Northwest School of Business & Economics employs 15 full-time faculty, and its programs are fully accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International). The successful hire will be required to maintain one or more faculty qualification status in accordance with AACSB guidelines. Faculty are engaged in teaching and research that is applied, basic, or pedagogic. Faculty also support the economic development of the region by engaging in mutually beneficial collaborations with local organizations and community members. Major Duties and Responsibilities Teaching: Indiana University Northwest is a student-centered campus. Teaching is the primary mission of the campus, supported by research and service. The expected teaching load is 12-credit-hours per semester in Management Information Systems and related courses at the undergraduate level and graduate level. A course release may be granted to maintain a productive level of scholarly work. Teaching responsibilities may include a mix of face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery methods with the possibility for some evening and/or Saturday courses. Teaching load may include undergraduate courses such as BUS-K 221: Introduction to Information Systems for Business, BUS-K 321: Management of Information Technology, and BUS-K 353: Business Analytics & Modeling as well as graduate course in our MBA program. Additional opportunities for summer teaching may be available in accordance with programmatic needs. Teaching expectations include course and syllabus preparation, textbook selection, participation in assessment of student learning, working collaboratively with peers on curriculum improvement, and incorporation of high impact teaching strategies that actively engage students. Faculty are expected to encourage student development and participate in activities that extend beyond the classroom such as mentoring, oversight of student clubs, honor societies, etc. Professional Development and Scholarship: The School of Business and Economics employs the Teacher-Scholar model, valuing research that is applied, basic, or pedagogic. Faculty are expected to pursue an ongoing stream of scholarly/creative activity, as required for promotion and tenure as well as maintaining academic status for accreditation purposes. Work may include but is not limited to: presenting papers at academic and professional association meetings; publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals or books; pursuing regional and national awards; holding office in a professional organization; participating in panels at regional and national meetings of professional organizations; pursuing grants; serving as part of the editorial review process for academic/professional journals; consulting; contributing to the scholarly growth of one’s peers. Service:Faculty members are expected to contribute their professional expertise through service to the department, campus, and community at large, in a participatory, developmental, or advisory capacity. Examples include but are not limited to committee work within the School, campus-wide committees and/or faculty governance; voluntary membership in professional and community-based organizations reasonably related to the discipline; lectures, consultations, or working with local and area agencies and organizations; support and participation in student organization activities. Basic Qualifications	Required Qualifications An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a field that includes teaching or research expertise involving information systems, data management, analytics, or digital transformation. Examples of such fields include, but are not limited to, the following: Information Systems, Information Management, Information Technology, Operations Research, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Applied Econometrics, Data Science. Applicants who are ABD (all but dissertation) will be eligible but must earn their doctorate by the employment start date, anticipated to be August 2026. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Systems. Effective communication, including the ability to explain complex things in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. Willingness to work with underprepared students and teach in a variety of formats: in-person, online, short courses, etc. Demonstrated active research agenda leading to publishing academic, practitioner, and teaching-oriented articles in peer-reviewed journals. Preferred Qualifications Experience and demonstrated success teaching at a university level. Demonstrated interest in the research areas of Generative Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity. Presentations at professional conferences or publications in peer reviewed journals in relevant fields. Clear agenda for future research and scholarly work in areas aligned with the mission of the school and campus. Relevant industry experience. Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences coming from different economic and academic backgrounds effectively and respectfully. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in other related fields. Commitment to work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, students, others on campus and in the extended community.
