| Position Summary | We are seeking a skilled and motivated postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on the social and health impacts of extreme climate events and the attribution of those impacts to climate change. The IU Climate and Society Lab has recently opened at IU, with the goal of understanding how climate change affects people’s well-being and the potential for climate mitigation, adaptation, and litigation strategies to address those impacts. Now, we’re looking for a postdoctoral scholar to expand our research program and do high-impact work at the intersection of climate change and human systems. The postdoctoral scholar will have flexibility to define their own research agenda, but the ideal candidate will be broadly interested in extreme climate events—such as heat waves, floods, wildfires, etc.—and/or the human impacts of those events—such as heat-related mortality, disaster-related losses, etc. The job will require data analysis and visualization, preparation and submission of journal articles, and the mentoring of students and other Lab members. The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Dr. Christopher Callahan (O’Neill School) with ample opportunity to work with other IU scientists and academics at other institutions. The appointment is anticipated to last up to 24 months.
