| Position Summary | The Laboratory of Dr. Linda Schutzman, within the Division of Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, is seeking a Assistant Research Professor to support a growing, federally funded research program focused on trauma-induced endotheliopathy, immunothrombosis, and vascular biology. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, translational research environment and contribute to a Department of Defense–funded program investigating the endothelial and immune-coagulopathy interface following traumatic injury. This work integrates mechanistic bench research with clinically relevant questions, with a focus on endothelial activation, adhesion signaling (e.g., P-selectin/PSGL-1), and pulmonary thrombosis after trauma. The scientist will work closely with Dr. Schutzman (Principal Investigator) and a multidisciplinary team to support the design, execution, and management of ongoing and newly initiated research projects. Primary responsibilities will include conducting laboratory-based experiments (in vitro and in vivo), managing day-to-day research operations, analyzing and interpreting data, and contributing to manuscript preparation and dissemination of findings at national meetings. The individual will also assist with grant preparation and progress reporting for ongoing funded projects. This position is well-suited to a highly motivated scientist interested in contributing to a productive, collaborative research program without the expectation of establishing an independent research portfolio. Opportunities for career development, mentorship, and increasing scholarly contributions are available within a supportive academic environment. The faculty member will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes surgeons, physician-scientists, basic scientists, statisticians, and research staff, with access to advanced institutional resources including multiplex spatial imaging platforms and core laboratory facilities.
