Job Description:

As a PCB Layout Engineer, you will collaborate with a cross-functional hardware team to manage the entire PCB layout process, from initial concept to final delivery, using various board form factors and PCB technologies to create reliable customer reference solutions.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct layout and routing studies to achieve cost reduction, design optimization, improved manufacturability, and reduced time to market (TTM)
  • Execute placement and routing of complex, high-speed, multi-layer circuit boards.
  • Develop Best Known Methods (BKMs) for layout processes to enhance quality and performance
  • Create detailed documentation to support design and development activities
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of layout requirements for high-speed signals and emerging technical challenges, such as fiber-weave effects
  • Collaborates with electrical design, packaging, manufacturing, thermal, and mechanical teams for continuous improvements in PCB design process and interfaces with signal and power integrity teams to achieve high-quality PCB designs.
  • Generate all necessary outputs for the fabrication of circuit boards, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications
  • Provide insightful feedback on board partitioning and recommend design changes to optimize functionality and performance
  • Drive the integration of state-of-the-art technologies into Intel board development, staying ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • PCB layout.
    • Working with the Cadence Allegro and Cadence Constraint Manager.
    • Advanced English level.

Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Mexico (the position is not eligible for employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship).

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

  • Familiarity with all phases of hardware development including schematic entry, signal integrity practices and theories, constraint entry, library creation, DFM.
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, HDMI, eDP, etc.
  • Understanding of board stack-up, trace and via geometries, and their effects on signal integrity.
  • Willing to own and manage highly complex PCB designs both individually as well as part of a team while working across multiple sites.
  • Willing to manage external CAD contract workers to meet project demands.
  • Experience with a broad range of PCB form factors.
  • Experience with complex HDI / Type4 PCB design.
  • Willing to create physical library components to meet company DFM requirements.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Concept / System Capture schematic tool.
