Job Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Staff who is a creative problem solver with a passion to support and enhance an advanced data toolkit for our analytics community. You will work with data engineers, technical program managers, business data analysts, product managers and architects to mature the data capabilities of Intuit’s Analytics ecosystem.As a senior member of the Data Intelligence team, you will have a strong track record of combining advanced analytics database design approaches with exceptional knowledge of functional areas to unlock potential for the business data analysts and product managers you support. You will be able to take ownership of complex workflows to translate data from clickstream and transactional data sources to maintain a complete data analytics ecosystem.The Data Intelligence team exists to ensure that the Small Business and Self-Employed Group analytics ecosystem has the data, tools, capabilities and education it needs to deliver actionable insights and recommendations to our business partners.
Responsibilities
- Architect Scalable Data Systems:Design, develop, and maintain data architectures and models that are scalable, high-performing, and aligned with business, modeling, and analytical requirements. Apply best-in-class data modeling principles to ensure consistency, integrity, and accessibility across domains.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Partner closely with data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to deeply understand business needs and translate them into robust data models, systems, and strategies that support decision-making, complex modeling, and analytics.
- Champion Data Quality and Governance: Define standards and frameworks for data modeling, quality, and governance. Ensure that data systems are reliable, performant, and built to scale with the business.
- Mentor and Guide Teams: Lead and mentor a team of contractors and data professionals, providing architectural guidance, code reviews, and clear direction to ensure high-quality data product delivery. Set technical standards and coach the team on best practices for building, testing, and deploying data solutions.
- Drive Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities to improve data pipelines, platforms, and processes. Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to prioritize, develop, and test enhancements that improve reliability, performance, and usability.
- Bridge Technical and Business Perspectives:Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Interview data consumers to understand requirements, develop functional specifications, and ensure delivery of strategic data initiatives that meet business needs.
- Advocate for the Analyst Community: Represent analysts’ data needs across segments and product teams. Develop data literacy plans and training programs for both analyst and non-analyst audiences to increase adoption and understanding of data assets.
- Strategic and Leadership Impact:
- Serve as a subject matter expert across the analytics organization and broader Intuit ecosystem.
Create and execute data roadmaps that align with business strategy.
Lead high-complexity projects with end-to-end ownership, using agile methodologies, translating complex business requirements into milestones and deliverables.
Qualifications
Technical & Strategic Expertise
8+ years of experience in analytics engineering or data architecture, designing and implementing data models and pipelines that directly support business decision-making and data-driven strategies.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Deep expertise in data modeling and semantic layer design, with the ability to translate complex business logic into scalable, high-performance data structures
Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation, quality assurance, and automation.
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks - with the ability to optimize for usability, scalability, and performance
Experienced in AWS data services
Proficient in data transformation and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, or Fivetran, with a strong grasp of CI/CD and version control best practices.
Familiarity with data visualization and analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense, Looker) and a clear understanding of how data models enable effective self-service analytics.
Experience integrating and modeling clickstream and behavioral dataKnowledge of data governance, lineage, and metadata management, ensuring models are trusted, well-documented, and reusable across teams.

Exceptional ability to think from the business perspective - deeply understands how data informs key metrics, KPIs, and strategic decisions, and designs models that make those insights accessible and actionable.
Adept at collaborating with data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate business questions into technical designs and high-impact analytical datasets.
Recognized for building bridges between technical and business teams - explaining complex data concepts in simple, outcome-oriented language.
Proven experience mentoring and leading data and analytics engineers, ensuring quality execution and alignment with architectural standards and business objectives.
Proactive and strategic mindset - anticipates business needs, identifies opportunities for improvement, and advocates for scalable, future-proof data solutions.
Excellent communication, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.

Bay Area: $191,500-$259,000
Southern California: $183,000-$247,500
