This position is eligible for remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Scientist for SaaS Advanced Analytics you will focus on the SaaS customer, working cross-functionally to develop insights and predictive models.

The position is open to remote work arrangements, per hiring manager discretion, the ideal candidate can be located in Johnston, IA, Moline, IL, Chicago, IL, or Austin, TX. This is subject to change in the future dependent on enterprise requirements and individual performance in a remote work setting. All candidates should expect to have working hours overlap a minimum of 6hrs per day with US CST hours of 8AM - 4PM with occasional flex to work more closely with counterparts and stakeholders.

The SaaS Advanced Analytics team is a fast-paced, highly innovative analytics team. Responsible for the data, insights, and analytics to support SaaS, the team is a driving force in assuring that John Deere can win with a new business model. The team currently has an opening for a Data Scientist position who will primarily focus on SaaS Customer Insights and Predictive Modeling efforts and share responsibility for:

• Working with data sets and performing appropriate analytical methodology. Provide insights and decision modeling to support customer centric strategies and risk evaluations in line with overall SaaS strategy and goals including those focused on actions and incentives.
• Apply analytical techniques to dive deep into the SaaS customer journey including cohort and segment analyses as well as customer state views.
• Create and implement algorithms which manage the data to enable it to be analyzed in an efficient and reproducible manner.
• Support the identification of the required data sources and work with Data Engineers and/or IT teams to implement methodologies to retrieve and use this data.

What Skills You Need

• 4 or more years - Familiarity with programming for data analysis; coding proficiency (Python/PySpark preferred) demonstrating strong technical acumen.
• 4 or more years - Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities; application of a variety of data science techniques, both computational and statistically based, including but not limited to machine learning, deep learning, regression, and classification.
• 4 or more years - Ability to break down and understand complex business problems, define a solution and implement it using advanced quantitative methods.
• 2 or more years - Basic knowledge of software development principles and architecture.
• 2 or more years - Knowledge of and experience working with Cloud technologies such as AWS, Databricks, and Spark.
• Ability to identify and retrieve structured and unstructured data from new, complex, or messy data sources.
• Team player with a strong sense of self-motivation able to thrive as part of a distributed, highly diverse and primarily remote team that operates in a fast paced, innovative environment using AGILE principles.
• Strong communication skills, especially around analytical concepts and methods, necessary to enable working directly with end users and business stakeholders across departments and geographies to evaluate the needs of the business.

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist in a customer-related, e-commerce, or recurring revenue area.
• Demonstrated ability to productionize analytical models.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote, virtual environment working inclusively across multiple time zones with highly diverse teams
• Great work ethic and intellectual curiosity.
• Experience with multiple statistical programming languages such as R, SAS, Python, SQL.
• Experience with ML/DevOps techniques like continuous integration, unit testing, monitoring models in production.
• Experience working with software version control platforms such as Github and working in a team environment with branches, pull request, merges etc.
• Strong documentation skills and adherence to coding best practices.
• Strong math skills (e.g., statistics, algebra)
• Analytical mind with strong business acumen and the ability to think strategically.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or analytics related discipline, or equivalent work experience in an analytics role demonstrating proficiency in the required skills.
