Join our team as an High Value Crops Production System Solutions Engineer, where you will contribute to the design, testing, and delivery of innovative solutions for High Value Crops (HVC) growers.

In this role, you will work on projects of moderate scope or key subsystems within larger programs, helping ensure performance, quality, and cost targets are met. You will partner with experienced engineers while building your own technical expertise.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and validate solutions that address the HVC opportunities identified in the HVC strategy.
  • Collaborate with ISG, Agronomy, and other teams to identify solutions for key customer challenges.
  • Validate third-party solutions with customers.
  • Develop and conduct feasibility tests for proposed engineering solutions, providing data and feedback to validate designs.
  • Integrate and test existing technologies from other Production Systems to assess their reusability in HVC.
  • Collaborate closely with ISG and Ag Engineering organizations.
  • Manage project tasks or sub-projects to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Support innovation projects within the John Deere Parla Innovation Center ecosystem.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in AgTech, product development, testing, and validation methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of, and hands-on experience with, agricultural technologies, including sensors, cameras, digital solutions, connectivity, and data-driven tools.
  • Background in Agronomy, with experience in high-value crops preferred (e.g., vineyards, olives, tree nuts, fruit orchards, and specialty crops).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively to cross-functional team objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English; proficiency in Portuguese and/or German is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Iberian Peninsula and internationally as required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Major Purpose

Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors.

Major Duties

  • Design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems, specifying the methods, process steps, and plant machinery and equipment required to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
  • Design, test, and validate engineering solutions that deliver on design briefs (e.g., functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost). Ensure all solutions conform to organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Define the engineering standards and specifications that must be adhered to by the organization and/or its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out change management and innovation activities to reach the organization's goals. Activities can be simple or complex, ranging from implementation support and process improvement diagnosis to designing, developing, and delivering the organization's overall objectives for innovation and change.
  • Manage and deliver projects of varying sizes and complexity. Depending on seniority, may be responsible for designing overall project management strategy.
  • Develop personal skills, knowledge, technical competencies, and behavioral competencies to ensure that they are relevant to current and future role or organizational requirements, to enhance personal performance, to support innovation and new developments, and to fulfill personal potential.
  • Collaborate with professional teams and partner organizations across boundaries to ensure service users receive cohesive, seamless support tailored to their needs.
  • Create and maintain technical and/or user documentation to a high standard and create backup files to ensure instant recovery in the case of problems.
