Job Description:
We are looking for a Junior Database Engineer to join our Global Operations Command Center (GOCC) team at MBPS. In this role, you are expected to complete activities associated with providing the 24/7/365 operations required to maintain Manulife’s infrastructure and IT services by identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing events and incidents and completing service requests and BAU tasks.
Position Responsibilities:
Conduct daily health checks across all database platforms to ensure system integrity.
Monitor, analyze, and respond to incident alerts during your shift.
Create incident tickets for any issues encountered and escalate them to senior database engineers as needed.
Fulfill service requests related to database activities, including health checks, access management, backup and recovery, data collection, and reporting.
Assist in scheduled maintenance activities by participating in change tasks to ensure high performance and reliability.
Execute automated tasks using Ansible playbook templates.
Collaborate with senior engineers to implement database solutions aligned with business requirements.
Support database backup and recovery processes, particularly during database patching. Contribute

Required Qualifications:
0-2 years of experience in database management or a related field.
Familiarity with database tools and software such as MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DB2, and Redis.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Qualifications:
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of databases.
Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
Familiarity with database security practices.
ITIL certification
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Good interpersonal skills, well-organized, and able to navigate various job scope areas comfortably.
A sense of urgency and ability to meet required turnaround times.
Amenable to work on FULL ONSITE set-up
Amenable to work on a shifting schedule
Availability to start ASAP (preferred)
