As a Senior Technical Product Owner, you will leverage your entrepreneurial mindset to drive the vision, strategy, and execution of innovative products. You will act as a key technical bridge between business and development teams, ensuring alignment with Manulife's strategic goals and delivering exceptional value to customers.
We are looking for someone with:
At least 5-10 years of experience
As a Product Owner
BA or BSc in a technical discipline (computer science, engineering)
Experience in data architecture, data modelling, and service-based architecture
Familiar with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, Jenkins, Azure, PCF, API's, SQL, GenAI, Power Platforms
Experience with languages such as Java Springboot or .NET Core or Node.js
Firm knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
An entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within in rapidly changing environment
Analytical, ability to think strategically and creatively
Able to design roadmaps
Create well designed and thought out Jira Stories, Epics and Tasks that define scope and definition of done
Experimenting with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement
Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion
Good verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes
Partners well with other squads, but tactfully protects their squad from distractions
On the job you will:
Owns the product backlog and feature prioritization process
Works with software development teams to define hypotheses, run experiments (surveys, concept testing, analytics tools, A/B testing), and analyze data to make decisions on features that influence the direction of the product (owner of product backlog)
Leads agile teams to ensure that value is delivered to users through appropriate epics
Drives the product strategy, planning, and delivery of key capabilities for the product (defines product goals)
Acts as the voice of the customer in the definition of product; incorporates feedback from customer interviews and user research
Leads the ideation, design, and planning of the product; monitor and report on product KPIs
Proactively removes obstacles impacting success of sprints; manages key dependencies
Works with strategic design to gain an understanding of use personas, pain points and journeys
Provides insights into product, technology and market trends
Defines roadmaps and detailed user stories, and partner with engineering masters to enable delivery of prioritized features
Collaborates with engineers & leadership to uncover pain points and opportunities to accelerate the delivery of new value through software
Manages communication and delivery between design & engineering teams
Specifies and effectively communicates requirements for current and future products
Understands the importance of total cost of ownership and makes decisions based on cost.
