Product Owner - Trust and Custody

John Hancock Retirement is currently redefining our US Retirement business to help our customers save for retirement. This team focuses on the delivery of solutions that create, and support engaging and streamlined experiences for our customers leveraging digital platforms and/or solutions.
The Trust and Custody Product Owner will be dedicated to driving our US Retirement platforms in an agile delivery model. They will act as the voice of the business and voice of the customer for the major components of the US Retirement strategy. This role contributes to the realization of the US Retirement strategy, vision, and OKRs by aligning and prioritizing business goals with actionable results.
As a member of the extended Product Development and Management function, the product owner (PO) is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the Agile Team and ensuring that the Team Backlog is aligned with customer and stakeholder needs (including the work Business Leads bring to the team). The PO is the squad’s primary customer advocate and primary link to the business strategy. The PO works closely with the Scrum Master to enable Agile Team to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while continuously evolving the solution.
Position Responsibilities
Contribute to the vision and roadmap Understanding the competitive landscape and market for specific domain, identify desired outcomes, communicate product vision and roadmap in alignment with business strategy.
Delivery – focuses on tactical delivery of product components aligned to priorities. Serve as the overall owner of story outcomes, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.
Customer CX centricity – Partnering with CX, ensure solutions will meet the customer needs through applying human centered design
Manage & prioritize the team backlog - Guide story creation aligned with product strategy. Prioritize backlog items at every iteration. Accept/validate story completion in compliance with definition of done, thereby assuring built in quality.
Support the team in delivering value - Balance stakeholder perspectives, elaborate stories, foster built in quality, participate in team events.
Getting & Applying feedback - test benefit hypothesis, obtain & share feedback from customers and stakeholders. Evolve solution design.
Partnerships – Maximize value delivered by Agile teams and support Go-To Market activities as required.
Reporting - Maintains a good understanding of business, customer, and end-user problems, needs, and preferences
Product Led Customer Value Focus:
Ensure holistic and feasible solutions: Working with Epic owner and product managers, guide solutioning to ensure required customer value and enablers are identified through comprehensive set of stories supporting Capabilities and Features.
Leading the plan: Create PI objectives, identifies and articulates required stories, prioritize the stories, ensuring the backlog is aligned with customer needs, attends and actively participates in team events during PI execution and ensures detailed descriptions
Ongoing improvement: During iteration planning, backlog refinement, iteration reviews, team retrospectives, and team syncs, provides crucial feedback on the team’s work from an outside-in, customer-centric point of view
Managing the plan: Participating in PO Sync/System Demos, helps the team satisfy dependencies, demonstrate incremental value, maintain cadence with the ART
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a business role and project management, previous or active role as a SAFe Product Owner strongly preferred.
Business knowledge and understanding of the US Retirement business and understanding of financial wellness programs.
Former Trust and Custody work and trade execution with external vendors is highly preferred but not required.
Prior FIS/Omni recordkeeping experience preferred, but not required
Proficient in analyzing complex problems and finding viable solutions.
Demonstrated experience implementing solutions that drive business results
Taking ownership of deliverables, executing
Strong user story requirement gathering and documentation skills.
Partner management and communication skills in defining outcomes, communicating progress, and facilitating planning meetings.
Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
Good understanding of project management methodologies
Understanding of system design and analysis and user testing.
Exceptional organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders representing a broad range of functions and levels.

Salary range is expected to be between
$71,550.00 USD - $119,250.00 USDIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
