The Opportunity

We seek a motivated, forward-thinking business analyst passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences. As a business analyst within our US Segment (John Hancock), you will manage our Environment squad. Your responsibilities include coordinating with our vendor to manage system updates for our life insurance application, including certificate updates and system patches. We are looking for a candidate who thrives on collaboration, enjoys problem-solving, and leverages technology to achieve goals.

Office location: Toronto - Canada or Boston - USA

Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home; Remote working option is not available.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Patching and Updates Coordination: Manage monthly patching and certificate/system updates to keep systems secure and current.

  • Squad Coordination: Organize and coordinate squad efforts to efficiently meet project objectives.

  • Obstacle Identification: Identify workflow obstacles and collaborate with team members to devise effective solutions.

  • Agile Facilitation: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and sprint review meetings to promote agile project management.

  • Workflow Documentation: Research and document workflow procedures and processes to support continuous improvement.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze data to develop innovative solutions for business process improvement and informed decision-making.

  • Process Coordination: Coordinate process changes, enhancements, and product implementations, including test plan development for successful execution.

  • Collaboration with Engineering and Architecture: Work with Engineering and Architecture teams to create detailed system maps that illustrate data flow, processes, and interactions.

  • Requirements Translation: Convert business and user requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories for development teams.

  • Solution Evaluation: Assess and recommend technological solutions that meet business needs and align with industry best practices.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate effective communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment.

  • Development Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to ensure successful system enhancements or new solution implementations.

  • Performance Presentation: Present data analysis and product performance evaluations to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Performance Evaluation: Regularly assess product performance against goals and benchmarks, identifying improvement areas and recommending optimization strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Passion for working in Information Technology (IT).

  • Experience with project management and agile methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Proven teamwork and collaboration abilities.

  • At least 4 years of experience as a business analyst.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Life Insurance industry.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with Agile principles or similar methodologies.

  • Flexibility and a desire to learn.

Salary range is expected to be between

$75,880.00 CAD - $140,920.00 CAD
