The Fixed Income Credit Analyst is accountable for assisting senior investment staff in providing timely, useful, and accurate detailed investment analysis and Buy/Hold/Sell recommendations, within the assigned coverage universe, to the various investment teams to assist them to build focused, high-performing and well-structured portfolios. The Analyst is responsible for determining and compiling sources of information to conduct their own independent analysis as well as to support senior investment staff.
Functions must be performed in the context of the unique client-defined investment strategy and the work contributes to the strategy’s successful performance and the Company’s ability to raise assets. The investment analysis performed include fundamental analysis of individual companies and interpreting market data, trends and economic forecasts.
Responsibilities
Analyze individual companies, interpret market and industry trends, and examine specified market sector activity to provide information and analysis required in the investment decision-making process.
Complete fundamental analysis on specific companies and create/update investment models with specific issuer information, income statements/ balance-sheet numbers and market trend data. Based on analysis make recommendations and articulate those buy, sell, hold recommendations with senior investment staff.
Research and recommend new sources of information to more senior investment staff.
Contribute to credit analysis and/or analysis of classes of securities, market trends, yield and duration relationships, and pricing trends between different fixed-income sectors.
Assist in various functions that support the whole credit research team such as compiling research folders on holdings, capturing printouts of various public filings and updating spreadsheet data.
May support more than one investment strategy team; foster relationships with various portfolio management teams to effectively do so.
This position is responsible for making recommendations in the investment decision making process through detailed and timely independent analysis. Determines and compiles sources of information to conduct their own analysis as well as to support senior investment staff.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; May hold advanced degree and/or CFA designation.
Typically has 3+ years of experience in asset management, i.e. operations, product, with 1-3+ years of dedicated investment analysis experience.
Superior organizational and analytic skills to complete detailed fundamental analysis. Ability to construct investment models to identify and supervise valuable securities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver reviews and recommendations. Ability to articulate highly technical information with conviction.
Sense of judgment and self-discipline in order to evaluate multiple opportunities and make appropriate investment decisions.
Strong understanding of business and economics in order to research target companies and resolve potentially profitable investments.
Ability to work well with multiple levels of internal and external contacts; strong communications skills to effectively convey recommendations & rationale.

Salary range is expected to be between
$91,000.00 USD - $165,000.00 USDIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
