A Product Development Lead plays a pivotal role in driving the development, enhancement, and management of insurance products across their lifecycle. This role focuses on translating customer insights, market trends, and regulatory requirements into innovative, customer-centric product solutions that remain competitive in a dynamic market.
The successful candidate will ensure products are commercially sound by balancing risk, pricing, and profitability while supporting the company’s growth strategy. Working closely with cross-functional teams including actuarial, marketing, distribution, operations, and compliance, the Product Development Lead will drive product innovation, continuous improvement, and successful product performance in the market.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and launch of new product features and services, as well as act as subject matter expert for existing offerings. Lead the development of new insurance products and enhancements by translating insights and professional advice from Product Proposition and Pricing into clear, actionable business requirements that drive successful product delivery.
- Lead cross-functional core teams in product development initiatives, ensuring that projects are implemented according to plan and that any issues are resolved promptly and effectively
- Drive projects to completion; help the business make key decisions in a timely manner; seek consensus
- Leverage industry knowledge and research to improve the competitiveness of product offerings
- Develop and ensure delivery of detailed product specifications and regulatory collaterals.
- Responsible for regulatory filings and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Lead medium to high complexity cross-departmental projects independently (for Product Manager)
- Support Head of Product Development with ad-hoc projects and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in Actuarial, Financial, Business, or related field of study; preferably part-qualified or qualified actuary with a pricing actuarial background.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Product Development, Proposition, and/or Pricing functions in Life Insurance industry. Understanding business processes and product development cycles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical detail and commercial impact.
- Able to provide professional advice, communicate difficult concepts and information, converts technical information into business information and advices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Bahasa and English) with the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
- Prior managerial experience is a must.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Able to work with AI to improve processes.
- Self – driven to proactively identify what needs to be addresses and prioritized to best achieve objectives of their role
- Ability to build and manage relationships with the key internal stakeholders
