Senior Health Data Analyst Lead, Asia Data Office

We are seeking a Senior Health Data Analyst Lead to drive the design and implementation of a common Health Data Model and Health Data Products to provide ready-to-use, easily consumable, trusted data set to support the AI and analytics use cases required to drive Manulife’s Health business ambition. This role is critical in enabling business units to innovate faster, optimize operations, and deliver localized analytics and AI capabilities. The successful candidate will participate in regional health strategic initiatives such as Provider Management Solutions, Health KPIs and Claim Driver analyses/automation, and other Regional/Local Health Analytics/AI use cases that require a common health data model.

As part of ADO, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead regional health data initiatives impacting regional and local health businesses

  • Collaborate with data scientists, AI teams, and business leaders in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.

  • Drive innovation and shape the future of health data products within the organization, to enable cutting-edge analytics/AI use cases including Generative AI (GenAI), Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, and advanced solutions leveraging OpenAI GPT models and AliCloud Qwen models.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Driving the Health Data Initiatives and Delivery

  • Partner with the regional and local health business teams, local data offices, AI/Analytics team, and cross-functional technical teams to design, build, and deploy an Asia regional common health data model, leveraging existing ADO platform, governance, practices and standards.

  • Engage senior stakeholders and ensure alignment on priorities and roadmap.

  • Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders and seek guidance.

  • Support the project managers with the preparation of project plan and subsidiary plan (communication, training plan etc) and project registers (risk, issues, actions, decisions)

  • Direct the day-to-day project activities and manage the team towards project objectives.

2. Data Analyst Team Lead

  • Play team lead role for the business requirement gathering of the data required from stakeholders including business owner, business user, product owner, etc

  • Act as the primary contact and escalation point with the business stakeholders

  • Lead the team to deliver required ETL and other data applications via Cloud-based Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) platform.

  • Lead the team to execute data gathering and cleansing to ensure data accuracy and reliability, data transformation and integration into suitable format for analysis, developing charts/graphs and dashboards to present data insights to stakeholders through compelling narratives supported by visualizations.

  • Handle problem resolution and escalates issues/risks to sponsors / steering committee as required.

3. Health Data Specialist and Delivery Excellence

  • Become the health data specialist and support the Health Data team to define the target Health Data Model

  • Contribute to automation processes for faster deployment.

  • Contribute to standardization of testing, validation, acceptance, and monitoring processes for ETL and BI for greater user confidence.

  • Contribute to establishment of Health Data ETL/BI delivery standards that ensure reusability and scalability.

  • Contribute to centralized library of Health Data ETL/BI best practices that balances oversight with protection of our data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Data Analytics related courses

  • Experience: 10+ years in one or more of the following

    • Business Analyst for Data related projects

    • BI Engineer

    • BI Analyst

    • Data Engineer

    • Data Analyst

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Proficient in Data Manipulation, Data Analysis, Data Warehousing, Data Mining & Extraction, Data Visualization, and ETL processes

    • Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, R, Spark, and Excel for data querying, manipulation and analysis

    • Experience with big data tools such as ADLS, Data Factory, DataBricks, etc

    • Ability to interpret and translate terminology between technical and business users

    • Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse teams across various regions.

    • Self-sufficient and self-motivated

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Proficient written and oral communication skills in the English language

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

    • Project management experience is an advantage.

    • Experience in working on Agile projects is an advantage.

    • Understanding of the insurance and/or financial industry is an asset
