The Multi Asset Solutions Team (MAST) is responsible for designing and managing investment solutions for a range of clients across Retail, Institutional and Retirement channels. Investment Solutions include target date, target risk, benchmark relative, outcome oriented and total return strategies for clients globally, including in the US, Canada, and Asia. MAST manages and advises on over USD120bn of assets and is comprised of over 50 professionals from diverse backgrounds and with a range of disciplines including asset allocation, macroeconomic research, investment strategy, quantitative solutions and financial engineering, and model portfolios advisory. MAST Asia Pacific manages over USD11bn of assets and is co-located across Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei.

The purpose of the Investment Analyst role is to support the MAST Asia Pacific team in conducting analysis for its existing range of funds and servicing of its existing clients. In addition, the Investment Analyst role is also an important enabler for the preparation of proposals for new client and investment solution opportunities, increasing the bandwidth of the MAST Asia Pacific team as it seeks to capitalize on the significant and broad array of new business opportunities across the region and across Manulife Investment Management’s core channels.

This position is accountable for the preparation of analysis to support the design of investment solutions proposed for new business opportunities, bespoke analysis to support and service existing clients for live portfolios, and research conducted for the purpose of generating investment ideas suitable for the wider MAST team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quantitative investment analysis and construct financial models for the preparation of the design of investment solutions in support of proposals for new investment business opportunities.
  • Provide support to portfolio managers across MAST Asia by maintaining/improving proprietary financial models/workfiles, evaluating relevant investment opportunities and actively monitoring performance and risk across portfolios.
  • Participate in the Global MAST investment idea generation process via the Research Hubs framework.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis in support of bespoke peer group design and monitoring, market structure and behaviour developments etc.
  • Support client servicing in HK and other geographies in Asia as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in areas such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Actuarial Science
  • 1-3 years’ professional experience in a relevant field such as Investment Management, Accountancy, Banking etc. Prior knowledge and experience of financial markets preferable. Proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, Bloomberg, and other business critical applications
  • Coding experience (e.g., Python) and experience of using Blackrock Aladdin an advantage
  • Collaborative team player with effective and coherent written and oral communication skills.
  • Mandarin language skills an advantage.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, inter-personal skills with a professional approach towards the quality of outputs
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • CFA holder or progress towards CFA preferable
