The Derivatives Operations Senior Analyst is expected to develop proficiency across multiple areas of the derivative post-trade lifecycle. Responsibilities may rotate or evolve based on business requirements, operational volumes, team capacity and development needs. Cross-training and the ability to provide coverage across trade lifecycle and collateral management activities are key expectations of the role.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the end-to-end post-trade lifecycle for OTC, cleared and exchange-traded derivatives.
  • Perform trade processing activities including validation, allocation, matching, confirmation and exception resolution.
  • Execute and monitor cash, trade and collateral settlements, resolving discrepancies and failed transactions.
  • Perform position, transaction and cash reconciliations and investigate breaks through resolution.
  • Manage collateral and margin activities, including margin calls, collateral movements, substitutions and reconciliations.
  • Partner with Front Office, custodians, clearing brokers, counterparties, Technology and other Operations teams to resolve issues and ensure timely processing.
  • Complete required operational controls, reporting, documentation and audit support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, controls and operational effectiveness.
  • Develop knowledge across multiple Derivatives Operations functions to provide cross-functional coverage and operational resilience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
  • Preferably 1 to 2 years of experience in investment operations, derivatives operations, securities operations or a related financial-services environment.
  • Ability to investigate operational exceptions, identify root causes and coordinate issues through resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and operational controls.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities and respond effectively to changing requirements and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, derivative trading/accounting platforms, collateral management systems and third-party market data providers is preferred.
  • Team-oriented approach with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the post-trade lifecycle for derivative products, including trade capture, allocation, matching, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation and collateral management.
  • Knowledge or exposure to derivative products such as futures, options, interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, foreign exchange and other OTC or cleared derivatives.
  • Knowledge or exposure to collateral and margin processes, including bilateral and cleared margin requirements, collateral movements and reconciliations, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISDA documentation and Credit Support Annexes (CSAs) is an advantage.
  • Understanding of custodian, counterparty and clearing broker operations and associated settlement and reconciliation processes.
