The Research Technologist will have an opportunity to run an independent research project as well as be involved in other projects by assisting with experiments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Use basic scientific methods, procedures and techniques.
- Apply working knowledge of theory behind experiments and apply basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects.
- Identify and trouble-shoot situations needing special attention.
- Follow established procedures or protocols and utilize aseptic technique to perform laboratory tests and/or experiments which may include basic tissue culture, cell separation methods, electrophoretic separations, assays, basic molecular biology, or other specialized histology and biological science techniques.
- May utilize in vivo models in experiments.
- Collect data and monitor data quality and accuracy as required by research protocol.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of research results, as required by research protocol.
- Recommend revisions to experimental methods based upon observations of the data.
- Monitor inventory levels, order materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, count orders upon receipt.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
- Experience with basic lab methods, such as making chemical solutions, histological techniques and molecular techniques.
- Experience with molecular biology experiments.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($40,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
