Research Technologist

The Van Doren Lab is looking for a Research Technologist to join their team. The research technologist will work independently and make judgements using prior lab experience and scientific knowledge. The research technologist will be required to use cutting edge techniques such as precise, CRISPR modification of the genome.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Generating mutants in Drosophila using CRISPR.
- Generating recombinant DNA constructs.
- Perform immunostaining.
- Preparing stock solutions, buffers and media.
- Perform data analysis.
- Maintaining lab databases of reagents (strains, plasmids, antibodies etc.).
- Attending and presenting data in lab meetings.
- Managing supplies, interfaces with vendors, ordering consumables and equipment.
- Maintaining records, and upholding safety regulations.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and good written and oral communication skills are desired.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Illustrator, Photoshop, and DNA/protein molecular biology software (ex: Geneious) is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous research experience is required.
- Previous experience with molecular biology is a plus.
- Previous experience with Drosophila as a model system is a plus.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $21.00 - $26.25 HRLY (Commensurate w/exp)
