Research Technologist

The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Research Technologist who will be responsible for conducting behavioral tests on in vivo models and analyzing data on relevant tissues to study the role of immune cells in skin reinnervation by collateral sprouting after peripheral nerve injury. Work requires basic use of scientific methods, procedures and techniques. Uses basic understanding of theory behind experiments and applies basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects and identify and trouble-shoot situations needing special attention.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform neuroscience, immunology, and pain-related experiments, following established procedures or protocols.
- Perform biological experiments, including flow cytometry, RNAScope, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry.
- Perform experiments, including pain research-related behavioral tests.
- Prepare solutions and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Work closely with other team members to facilitate experimental blinding, quantitative image analysis, and other elements of rigorous experimental design.
- Assist with manuscript, grant proposal, and presentation preparation relevant to the laboratory’s work.
- Follow all applicable regulatory and safety requirements.
- Maintain thorough and accurate research records.
- Participate actively in laboratory research discussions and presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
