Research Assistant

Under general supervision, we are seeking a Research Assistant who will support the Wright lab research programs involving design, development and validation of novel urologic medical devices. The range of duties includes but is not limited to prototyping and testing devices, obtaining clinician and patient feedback, interacting with vendors to fabricate new prototypes, communicating with all team members(s) and assisting in day-to-day research activities of the lab.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day data collection for research studies, in support of the research team.
- Work consists of obtaining PI inputs on medical device(s) and implementing them in designs and prototypes.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of all design requirements and inputs.
- Plan and execute bench testing needed for validating device design.
- Prepare mandatory reports and documents/protocols as well as assist in grant writing.
- Meet regularly with the PI and/or team leader to review data accuracy, shift reports, and overall study progress.
- Conduct literature searches to support the manager and the PI.
- Interact with clinicians and other stakeholders involved in device value chain.
- Maintain paper and computerized research files.
- General maintenance of lab equipment and inventory spreadsheets.
- Obtain approvals and place lab-related orders via SAP.
- Assist in preparation of IRB, IACUC protocols and related documents.
- Participate in weekly research group meetings; schedule meetings; create agendas; complete minutes.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
