Research Program Assistant

We are seeking a Research Program Assistant who is needed in the McMeniman Lab to support a collaborative research program seeking to understand the molecular and cellular basis of mosquito attraction to humans. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be able to complete laboratory tasks proficiently and be comfortable working with small animals and insect colonies. The candidate should have a strong commitment to work as a member of a team.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Execution of mosquito behavioral assays involving computational tracking,
- Generation and maintenance of transgenic mosquito colonies.
- Small animal handling.
- Molecular cloning.
- Ordering of laboratory supplies.
- Standard laboratory maintenance duties.
- The applicant will be expected to work independently at times and assume primary responsibility for the care of laboratory mosquito colonies in collaboration with other team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, computation or related field.
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
- Expertise or interest in at least some of the following areas is essential: biology, molecular biology and computational programming.
- Experience in small animal handling and anesthesia, aseptic technique, molecular cloning, bioinformatic software for DNA sequence analysis, genome-editing technology and organismal husbandry.

Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY ($37,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
