Research Technologist

The Johns Hopkins University Department of Physiology is seeking a Research Technologist who will work to support and advance scientific research in a laboratory. Key responsibilities will include working with mice, genotyping, and helping to order laboratory supplies. Responsible for some laboratory maintenance and organization duties. In addition, will work with cell biology and molecular biology techniques, following routine protocols under the close supervision of a faculty investigator. Typically works with biohazardous materials. Performs laboratory tests and/or experiments following established procedures or protocols. Operates requisite laboratory equipment and instruments; records data; maintains and makes minor adjustments to equipment. Opportunity exists for advancement within this position over time.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in research to elucidate the roles of novel GPCRs in the kidney and cardiovascular system.
- Managing mouse colonies and genotyping.
- Ordering laboratory supplies and assisting in laboratory organization.
- Pursue cell and molecular biology studies interrogating GPCR roles.
- Pursue physiology studies interrogating GPCR roles.
- Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two to three years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
- Experience working with mice.
- Experience with bench research in cell or molecular biology and/or physiology.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($40,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
