Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has an onsite work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team’s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.

The Office of Alumni Relations is a central unit of 30 professionals within Development and Alumni Relations, dedicated to engaging nearly 260,000 alumni across all Johns Hopkins University schools. The office leads seven key functional areas: (1) Reunion Programs, (2) Lifelong Learning and Travel, (3) Regional, Student, and Young Alumni Programs, (4) Mentoring Initiatives, (5) Communications, (6) Identity and Shared Interest Communities, and (7) the university-wide Alumni Council.

The Data Analyst will serve as a key resource for alumni engagement data within the Office of Alumni Relations, a central team of 30 staff supporting a global alumni community of 260,000. Reporting to the Senior Data Analyst, this role is responsible for data processing and maintenance and will assist with analysis to support engagement initiatives, ensure data integrity, and contribute to reporting efforts related to alumni relations.

Key responsibilities:

1. Data Processing & Quality Maintenance

  • Collaborate with colleagues in OAS and academic units to ensure accuracy of alumni biographic and engagement data in the university database, updating contact information and processing data requests from alumni and engagement colleagues across the University.
  • Enter and code key data points, including event attendance and board membership.
  • Evaluate and process biographical and demographic data, merging with existing records or creating new records as needed.

2. Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Assist in generating reports on alumni engagement, event participation, and giving trends.
  • Distribute quarterly alumni engagement score reports and campaign engagement metrics to divisions.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Advancement Services and the Office of the President on the annual Economic Impact Report.
  • Create and implement data upload tools and processes to facilitate efficient and effective data management

3. Database Maintenance

  • Perform routine audits, de-duplication, and verification to ensure data integrity.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding biographical and demographic data updates.
  • Maintain and update alumni employment, organizational relationships, and contact information.
  • Support ongoing data quality initiatives and track progress through reporting.
  • Add historical engagement data to the CRM as necessary and clean up event records to prevent duplicate profiles.
  • Conduct regular data maintenance on high-engagement alumni.
  • Prepare and format files for mass data uploads to the CRM.

4. Event and Program Support

  • Track attendance and engagement metrics for alumni events and programs.
  • Update biographical and contact information from event registrations.

5. Communication & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with advancement, communications, and career services teams to ensure data consistency and effective outreach.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Experience with CRM databases (Salesforce preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
