As a Lead Software Engineer- Android at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Bank- Digital Technology, you will play a crucial role as part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficiency in Java and Kotlin: Strong understanding and experience with both programming languages used for Android development
- Jetpack Compose: Strong understanding and experience in building UI using Jetpack Compose
- Experience with Android SDK: Familiarity with Android Studio and the Android Software Development Kit (SDK)
- MVVM Architecture: Strong understanding and experience in implementing the MVVM design pattern in Android applications
- Reactive Programming: Familiarity with RxJava or Kotlin Coroutines for handling asynchronous operations
- Unit Testing: Experience in writing unit tests for ViewModel and other components
- Understanding of RESTful APIs: Ability to integrate and work with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Practical cloud native experience
- Dagger 2: Strong understanding and experience in using Dagger 2 for dependency injection in Android applications
- Experience in Functional Testing: Strong understanding and experience in writing and executing functional tests for Android applications
- Jira: Proficiency in using Jira for project management, issue tracking, and collaboration within development teams
