As the Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Home Lending division, you will take on a leadership role by offering technical coaching and guidance to multiple technical teams. Additionally, you will anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm.
Job responsibilities
- Proven track record in supporting mortgage operations by enhancing workflow efficiency, ensuring compliance, and managing system integrations.
- Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers/system analysts on daily tasks and activities.
- Ensures optimal performance of all Home Lending systems leading to enhanced productivity and adherence to compliance regulations.
- Design and maintain custom input forms, business rules, field triggers, loan programs, and personas to streamline lending workflows.
- Support system upgrades, testing, and change management, ensuring minimal disruption during releases.
- Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks.
- Be accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
- Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary, along with ensuring successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
- Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
- Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Experienced Encompass Administrator with over 7+ years of hands-on expertise in configuring, customizing, and maintaining the Encompass LOS platform to support retail, wholesale, and correspondent lending channels.
- Familiarity with API calls, Encompass plugins, OOP framework, and version control tools like GitHub.
- Exposure to JavaScript, particularly in the context of Encompass Web.
- Experience in writing and maintaining REST / SOAP Based APIs.
- Working Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git -based workflows or configuration-as-code practices.
- Experience leading teams of technologists.
- Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
- In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
- Practical cloud native experience.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience working at code level as the role is approximately 30% hands on and 70% managerial however can change based on day to day activities.
- Enable business capabilities through technical innovation and process improvements.
- Interpret technical and business objectives, identifying challenges and providing innovative solutions to address them.
