This role will be based in Mountain View, CA.

The Security Infrastructure team at LinkedIn is responsible for building foundational systems that power authentication, authorization, and platform-level security primitives across the company. We are seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to drive the next phase of our charter—designing and building scalable infrastructure that delivers key foundational security functionality including Continuous Compliance and Provenance & Integrity across LinkedIn’s ecosystem.

This is a high-impact technical leadership role at the intersection of security, infrastructure, and platform engineering. The work you drive here will meaningfully shape the next generation of secure development and operations at LinkedIn. Responsibilities:
● You will provide technical leadership, and deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale.
● You will provide architectural guidance and mentorship to up-level the engineering organization.
● You will drive alignment across engineering, security, compliance, and platform teams—evangelizing architectural direction and ensuring long-term adoption.
● You will lead the design and development of scalable, resilient systems that elevate the security posture across LinkedIn’s cloud and runtime environments.
● You will uncover emerging risks and infrastructure gaps; develop innovative technical approaches that advance the team’s security and compliance objectives.
● You will embed security into developer workflows and infrastructure patterns in a way that enables velocity without compromising posture.
● You will operate across organizational boundaries to execute on complex initiatives, partnering with senior engineers, TPMs, and leadership to deliver impact.
● You will work closely with the open-source community to participate and influence cutting edge open-source projects (e.g., SPIRE, cert-manager).
● You will mentor other engineers and will help build a fast-growing team.

Basic Qualifications:
● BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
● 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
● 5+ years of experience programming in object-oriented languages such as C/C++, Java, Golang, Rust, Python, Scala.
● 2+ years of experience as an architect, or technical leadership position.

Preferred Qualifications:
● MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
● 10+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions with 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership position.
● 5+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
● 10+ years of programming experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C/C++.
● Experience leading by influence, formulating and driving technical strategies across various organizations.
● Experience leading a large organization.
● Prior experience with Security, Compliance Infra and/or Cryptography strongly preferred.
● Experience with industry, open source, and/or academic research in key areas such as Continuous Compliance & Policy Engines, System Integrity & Provenance including technologies like Kubernetes, OPA (Open Policy Agent), GraphQL, Apache Kafka etc.
● Experience with open-source project management and governance.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $175,000 - $288,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
