We are responsible for securing all of LinkedIn’s microservices and large scale data systems such as Kafka.
As a Distinguished Engineer of the Security Engineering team at LinkedIn, you will play a crucial role in our ongoing efforts to re-architect our security infrastructure stack and help secure the way that all of LinkedIn builds and operates products and systems. This is a high-profile, high-impact project that will touch every aspect of our engineering organization, and we are looking for professionals who have a proven track record of designing large-scale security infrastructure and driving consensus.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions that will enable LinkedIn to scale its security infrastructure and services to meet the demands of a rapidly growing user base as well as working with engineering as a whole to build security into the way we operate. This will involve working closely with a team of engineers to develop and operate solutions that are robust, scalable, and efficient. You will also need to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
• You will directly contribute to LinkedIn’s data center infrastructure strategy.
• You will build and operate platforms that provide foundational security capabilities at scale.
• You will create world-class high-performance authentication, authorization, secret management, and cryptography solutions for our data centers.
• You will design and build advanced cryptography at scale to support AI-first initiatives
• You will work with the Infosec team as well as the engineering team as a whole to build security more deeply into the way we build and operate.
• You will help up-level and coach a large team of talented developers
• You will collaborate with senior technical leaders across the company to derive crucial decisions and deliver timely outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
• BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent technical experience
• 10+ years industry experience in security, software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
• 7+ years programming experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, Golang, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, or Ruby.
• 5+ years of experience in an architect or leadership position
• 4+ years of experience in large-scale compute infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with large distributed systems
• 12+ years’ experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions
• 12+ years programming experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Python, Java, Golang, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, or Ruby
• 7+ years experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures
• Experience with building and deploying PKI and key management at scale
• Experience in building and deploying application authentication and authorization infrastructure (e.g OAuth)
• 2+ years experience working with machine learning/artificial intelligence
• Track record of publishing in conferences and patenting innovations

The pay range for this role is $236,000 to $388,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
