As part of our world-class software engineering team, you will be building the next-generation observability platforms for LinkedIn, including but not limited to: instrumenting applications and infrastructure to collect meaningful metrics, logs, and traces; Collaborate with development teams to ensure consistent and comprehensive instrumentation across all systems; Develop and maintain libraries, frameworks, and tools to simplify instrumentation. The Observability Experience (OE) group is charted to simplify and drive observability for LinkedIn. The Observability Platforms (sub team of OE) is responsible for billions of operational metrics ingested every minute within LinkedIn. Observability Platforms maintains the platforms and products for metrics ingestion, storage, retrieval, visualization, alerting, incident creation & escalation, remediation, health-checking and experience platform. We are one of the very few companies globally with a custom-built platform to support billions of metrics ingested at millions of QPS.
This role will be based in Bangalore, India.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
Responsibilities:
- You will own the technical strategy for broad or complex requirements with insightful and forward-looking approaches that go beyond the direct team and solve large open-ended problems.
- You will design, implement, and optimize the performance of large-scale distributed systems with security and compliance in mind.
- You will Improve the observability and understandability of various systems with a focus on improving developer productivity and system sustenance
- You will effectively communicate with the team, partners and stakeholders.
- You will mentor other engineers, define our challenging technical culture, and help to build a fast-growing team
- You will work closely with the open-source community to participate and influence cutting edge open-source projects
- You will deliver incremental impact by driving innovation while iteratively building and shipping software at scale
- You will diagnose technical problems, debug in production environments, and automate routine tasks
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions
- 8+ years of experience programming in object-oriented languages such as Java, C++, Python, Go, C and/or other Functional languages
- Hands on experience developing large-scale observability platforms with an understanding of distributed systems, microservice architecture, pub-sub systems, logging /metrics / tracing platforms
- 3+ years of experience in an architect or an equivalent technical leadership position
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in data collection technologies such as Open Telemetry, cloud APIs, instrumenting infrastructure and application event data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical concepts
- Ability to navigate complex decision-making and effectively communicate across teams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, leading and mentoring others in observability best practices
- Experience in architecting, building, and running large-scale systems
- Maintainer or contributor of open source projects
