As part of our world-class software engineering team, you will be building the next-generation observability platforms for LinkedIn, including but not limited to: instrumenting applications and infrastructure to collect meaningful metrics, logs, and traces; Collaborate with development teams to ensure consistent and comprehensive instrumentation across all systems; Develop and maintain libraries, frameworks, and tools to simplify instrumentation. The Observability Experience (OE) group is charted to simplify and drive observability for LinkedIn. The Observability Platforms (sub team of OE) is responsible for billions of operational metrics ingested every minute within LinkedIn. The Observability Experience team builds and maintains the observability platform responsible for metrics, logs, and traces. We create intuitive UI visualizations and effective troubleshooting tools using React, Grafana, and Go. Our mission is to help engineers quickly understand system behavior, triage issues, and resolve incidents with confidence.
This role will be based in Bangalore, India.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
Responsibilities:
- You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding
- You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap
- You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship
- You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack
- You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality
- You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.
- You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration
Basic Qualifications:
- B Tech/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1+ year(s) of management experience or 2+ year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training
- 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
- Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- 2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience
- 7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
- 5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, Python, Go, etc.
- Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications
- Ability to navigate complex decision-making and effectively communicate across teams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, leading and mentoring others in observability best practices
- Successful track record of managing teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality
- Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps
- Hire and retain world-class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high impact projects, while taking intelligent risks to improve the way work is done
