Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and responsible Manual QA Engineer with at least 1 year of hands-on experience in software testing. The role involves ensuring product quality across web applications by designing effective test cases, identifying risks early, and collaborating closely with developers and product teams. You will play a critical role in maintaining release quality in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities (KRAs)

  • Understand product requirements, user flows, and business logic thoroughly.
  • Design, write, review, and maintain detailed test cases and test scenarios.
  • Perform manual testing including functional, regression, sanity, smoke, and exploratory testing.
  • Identify, log, track, and verify bugs using JIRA with clear reproduction steps and impact analysis.
  • Validate APIs using Postman (request/response validation, status codes, basic payload checks).
  • Participate in sprint planning, requirement discussions, and release readiness activities.
  • Ensure critical user journeys are always covered before releases.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to reproduce issues and verify fixes.
  • Take ownership of assigned features/modules and their overall quality.
  • Support production sanity and post-release verification when required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Manual QA / Software Testing.
  • Strong understanding of QA fundamentals (SDLC, STLC, test types, bug life cycle).
  • Hands-on experience in test case writing with good coverage and prioritisation.
  • Practical experience using JIRA for defect tracking and task management.
  • Working knowledge of Postman for API testing.
  • Ability to understand functional workflows and edge cases.
  • Good attention to detail with a quality-first mindset.
  • Strong ability to replicate bugs consistently using clear steps, environment details, and data conditions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Good to Have

  • Experience testing SaaS or web-based applications.
  • Basic understanding of databases, logs, or browser DevTools.
  • Ability to assist developers with error logs by capturing relevant console logs, network logs, request/response details, and basic server-side clues when available.
  • Exposure to Cypress automation (reading/writing basic test cases, understanding test flow).
  • Basic experience or familiarity with API automation using Jest or similar frameworks.
  • Understanding of SQL queries for basic data validation (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN awareness).
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams.
  • Exposure to release cycles and production support.

Interview Process

  • Round 1: QA Technical Deep Dive (With QA Lead)
  • Focus on QA fundamentals, test case strategy, bug reporting, functional understanding, and hands-on tools (JIRA, Postman).
  • Round 2: Technical Judgment (Engineering Manager Round)
  • Evaluate real-world decision-making, prioritisation, sprint understanding, collaboration with developers, and practical testing scenarios.
  • Round 3: Casual Conversation (With CTO)
  • Assess mindset, ownership, accountability, learning attitude, and cultural fit.

Interview Best Practices

  • Be prepared to discuss real testing scenarios and past bugs you’ve handled.
  • Keep examples ready for test case design and defect reporting.
  • Ensure a stable internet connection for remote interview rounds.
