Senior Software Engineer - Certification & Standards

Job Summary

Are you passionate about software quality and eager to make an impact in safety-critical industries?
Join our global Simulink Certification and Standards team and help leading companies in aerospace, automotive, railway, and industrial automation achieve certification of their embedded systems using MathWorks tools. In addition to supporting traditional safety-critical systems, you will help qualify our tools for use in developing certified AI applications—an exciting new area. We enable customers to qualify Simulink and Polyspace verification tools for compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, ISO 26262, EN 50128, and IEC 61508.
You’ll play a key role in the development and maintenance of the DO Qualification Kit and IEC Certification Kit—essential products that support our customers in meeting rigorous certification requirements across a range of industries and certification standards.

Responsibilities

As a member of our global development team, you will be responsible for extending our certification and qualification products to support new tools and emerging industry standards.

Specifically, you'll

  • Develop and maintain test suites and test infrastructure for tool qualification.
  • Design and implement test strategies for qualifying new tools and features.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product trams across MathWorks to drive tool qualification efforts.
  • Support and extend certification and qualification products to meet evolving industry standards and customer needs.
  • Ensure high-quality tool qualification that streamlines the certification process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience programming in a high-level language (MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles
  • Hands-on experience with automated software testing or test engineering
  • Strong debugging skills and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Experience in the following areas is optional, but preferred -

  • Experience with certification standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, or similar.
  • Familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Perforce).
  • Experience working with MathWorks tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded Coder).
