Jira Product Owner

Job Summary

We are seeking a Jira Product Owner to lead the strategic direction and governance of our Jira platform. This role will play a critical part in our migration from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud and will continue to drive platform optimization and stakeholder engagement post-migration to ensure Jira delivers maximum business value.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Jira Cloud migration effort
    • Collaborate with the program manager, consultant, and development team to support migration activities and validate configurations.
    • Communicate with stakeholders and ensure alignment with business needs
  • Create and execute Jira roadmap
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, development teams, and Atlassian to develop product roadmap. Communicate roadmap progress and updates as business needs evolve
    • Regularly engage with users. Write stories, collect and prioritize feedback, and manage expectations
    • Manage backlog health, plan sprints, lead sprint reviews, refinement and retrospectives
  • Vendor management
    • Engage Atlassian frequently and advocate for roadmap inclusions and bring the latest features/direction to MathWorks
    • Network with Jira community, leverage these relationships to solve problems
    • Act as primary liaison to add-on vendors and facilitate contract renewals
  • Configuration & Support
    • Configure Jira projects, workflows, transitions, screens, etc…
    • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support for end user community

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Proficiency with JIRA

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale Jira environments (5,000+ users).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and actionable backlog items.
