Software Engineer Responsibilities
  • Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test large scale software applications or systems for various products or software services.
  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant product areas, codebase, and/or systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming, and software engineering.
  • Produce high-quality code with good test coverage using modern abstractions and frameworks.
  • May be assigned to a specific group focused on product or infrastructure.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.
  • Have a proven record of planning multi-year roadmap in which shorter-term projects ladder to long-term vision and drive cross-functional/industry-wide engineering efforts.
  • Lead track road-mapping and contribute to setting team level goals, tracking OKRs, and conducting tradeoffs discussions to prioritize projects based on technical effort estimation and impact sizing.
  • Lead technical design and scoping projects.
  • Engage leaders to gain buy-in and support for a new direction or opportunity.
  • Mentor and provide technical support to senior engineers on the team.
  • Advise team and cross-functional partners on complex matters in product/business areas.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field and 10 years of experience in the job offered or a computer-related occupation, with a focus on product-growth engineering.
  • Requires 6 years of experience in the following skills:
  • 1. Build web applications using Hacklang, PHP, and XHP
  • 2. Build web interfaces using React, GraphQL, Flow, Relay, and ComponentKit
  • 3. Build cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter or industry-equivalent
  • 4. Write automated tests using Selenium (or industry-equivalent), Jest, and Junit
  • 5. Perform data analysis and data visualization using Presto, Daiquery, Jupyter, and Tableau (or industry-equivalent)
  • 6. Experience with monitoring services such as Splunk
  • 7. Experience with data streaming services such as Scribe
  • 8. Using version control systems such as Mercurial in large monolithic repositories
  • 9. Experience with the following cloud-computing tools or their industry-equivalents: AWS Lambda, Twine, and Apache ZooKeeper
  • 10. Building databases using Apache Hadoop, memcached, Amazon Elasticache, Amazon DynamoDB, and Apache HBase (or industry-equivalent)
  • 11. Experience with ORMs such as Entity Framework and
  • 12. Experience with communication protocols such as Thrift.

$258,840/year to $290,180/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
