Develop future technologies for Meta's fully immersive AR glasses. Specifically, engage with tool vendors in developing and qualifying etch tools and processes to be deployed at Meta’s manufacturing sites. Work closely with Meta’s manufacturing sites to create a manufacturable process flow with the deployed tools and processes. The candidate is expected to collaborate with the design, metrology, integration and process engineering teams to develop etch technologies for advanced waveguide fabrication.
Etch Process Development Engineer Responsibilities
- Engage with tool vendors in developing and qualifying etch tools and processes to be deployed at Meta’s manufacturing sites
- Engage with Meta’s manufacturing sites to create a manufacturable process flow with the deployed tools and processes
- Collaborate with the design, metrology, integration, and process engineering teams to develop advanced waveguide technologies for AR and smart glass displays
- Develop and manage external partnerships with key partners
- Plan, execute, and evaluate complex assignments where results and decisions impact multiple functions
- Continuous process improvement and monitoring stability of deployed tools and processes
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science
- At least 6 years experience in semiconductor etching
- At least 3 years experience in ion beam etching
- At least 5 years experience developing partnerships with external vendors and manufacturing partners
- At least 5 years experience developing novel integration process flows
- Competency in statistical process control
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science
- 5+ years experience in wide band gap applications
- 5+ years experience in ion beam etching
- 2+ years experience in diffractive optics
- 2+ years experience in augmented reality

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
