Our team is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who has a background in uncrewed marine/maritime systems. The successful candidate will be passionate about overseeing the design, development and application of cutting-edge technologies for prototype and production of autonomous systems. The selected individual will integrate into, and lead, dynamic and highly motivated project teams, and use new ideas from across multiple fields to push the boundaries of the possible for intelligent systems.

The successful candidate will collaborate with our leadership team and contribute to all technical aspects of Unmanned Underwater and Surface Vessel (UUV’s and USV’s) engineering, production, and design baseline management. It is preferred that the selected individual have a core background in one of the following domains and a general working knowledge in the remaining domains: Marine Robotics, Autonomous System Software, Marine Systems Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, marine robotics, or a relevant field.
  • At least 8 years' professional engineering or engineering management experience, ideally in the autonomous system domain in the marine/maritime or related sector.
  • Strong background in systems engineering processes.
  • Experience defining system performance objectives, requirements, and change management.
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practices to aid in efficiently managing complex system design and fabrication.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role as an engineering manager or lead systems engineer overseeing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time in a year.
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED; Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • An advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of autonomous platform software, power and electrical systems, hardware, sensors, and controls.
  • Experience as a chief engineer.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, as well as SysML tools such as CAMEO.
  • Experience with US Navy, Cyber and Environmental qualification standards.
  • Experience planning and conducting UxV tests and evaluations.
  • Experience performing concept design space exploration and system architecture trade studies.
  • Experience with open architecture approaches, such as Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture (UMAA), Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) associated standards, etc.
  • Experience with Federal Science & Technology (S&T) and Research & Development (R&D) sponsors (DARPA, IARPA, ONR, NASA, DIU), acquisition solicitations (e.g. Broad Agency Announcements (BAA’s), Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR’s), etc.) and contract vehicles (SBIR’s, Other Transaction Agreements (OTA’s), etc.)
  • Active DoD security clearance.
