We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience leading teams through system architecture and design in a fast-paced, product development environment. The position requires a mix of technical breadth and design experience to integrate mechanical and electrical subsystems into compelling system designs and customer experiences. Proficient communication skills are required to lead the team, set daily work direction and sync across partner organizations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years related technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in design of electro-mechanical assemblies, including familiarity with common manufacturing methods such as machining, injection molding, and metal forming.
  • Experience with system layout and architectural trade-offs for laptop and tablet designs.
  • Experience with collaboration and oversight of the engineering development activities for overseas suppliers and partners.
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD), preference for Creo.

Mechanical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead mechanical design activities during product development. This will include system layout, mechanical design, and evaluation of feature and cost trade-offs.
  • You will oversee and coordinate the work of partner engineers and overseas engineering teams to ensure the right rate of progress and engineering quality are being achieved.

  • You will facilitate stakeholder discussions to ensure cross-discipline collaboration, and to identify and resolve conflicting engineering needs.

  • You will identify the most significant program risks, develop the necessary mitigation plans, and communicate team progress through regular reports and reviews.
