As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for a Hardware Development PM to join the team.

The development hardware program manager will play a pivotal role in E2E product development of infrastructure hardware and multi-source programs at scale that have a significant impact the business and Azure. The candidates will collaborate with both internal Microsoft teams and external partners (OEMs/ODMs, Systems, and others to driver delivery of high-quality products to our production fleet that enable our business success at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience. 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • BS in Engineering preferably in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • Ability to partner closely with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and implement features, infrastructure, processes, and workflows.
  • Ability to create and operationalize processes to transform the effectiveness of the organization with respect to meeting business goals. Coach, enable and grow Program Managers within the team and our partners.
  • Can align key stakeholders, and manage projects through milestones to completion on schedule and in budget
  • Ability to monitor and measure engineering impact and performance results by tracking key performance indicators


Preferred Qualifications (Desired):

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Strong technical expertise in system design, problem-solving, debugging, and analytical thinking.
  • Proven record of shipping high-quality products and services, demonstrating end-to-end ownership and execution excellence.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity—evaluate complex scenarios, define clear priorities, and drive alignment across multiple strategic and tactical paths.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, with demonstrated success collaborating across diverse business and technical stakeholders to deliver measurable impact.
  • Effective prioritization and execution skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments, consistently meeting high-quality standards.
  • Experienced program manager with a track record of leading complex initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Skilled facilitator and decision-maker, able to structure discussions, resolve conflicts, and drive outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all organizational levels.
  • Confident presenter, adept at communicating with both executive audiences and technical teams.
  • Hands-on supplier management experience, including performance tracking, escalation management, and partnership development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional virtual teams spanning hardware/software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, networking, and datacenter operations to define a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) and drive new product development to meet milestones.
  • Own end-to-end technical hardware programs from requirements through launch - manage complex schedules, remove roadblocks, and ensure seamless execution.
  • Drive technical program management for new Cloud hardware development, including planning and executing holistic product strategies, providing technical leadership, and proactively identifying risks.
  • Align stakeholders and deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and at uncompromising quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technology partners to build cohesive development plans and ensure alignment.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and implement features, processes, and workflows for Azure hardware programs.
  • Maintain deep understanding of technical requirements, milestones, and interdependencies; leverage engineering expertise to solve problems and close gaps.
  • Own product specifications, BOM management, and engineering build releases to ensure accuracy and readiness.
  • Manage design verification testing and drive timely bug resolution.
  • Track and report engineering impact through key performance indicators to measure progress and performance.
  • Communicate effectively and escalate risks with clear recommendations to enable timely decision-making.
  • Hold accountability for architecture solutions and deliver best-in-class outcomes across all workstreams.
  • Lead risk management efforts for new product introduction, including scenario planning, mitigation strategies, and recovery plans.
  • Engage senior leadership regularly with meaningful status updates, risk assessments, and actionable recommendations.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguity - apply or design processes where they add value and adapt approaches to context.
  • Navigate and lead through complex technical and business challenges, ensuring clarity, alignment, and impactful results.
  • Ensure readiness for datacenter infrastructure development and deployment, tracking milestones and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Implement effective program management frameworks and collaboration methods to drive execution visibility, ensure alignment across global teams, and maintain an accurate, up-to-date Plan-of-Record (POR).
