Azure Storage is a key component of Microsoft’s cloud platform, enabling secure and efficient data migration solutions for customers worldwide. Our team focuses on building technologies such as Azure Storage Mover and DataBox to support large-scale data transfers with reliability and performance.


As a Senior Software Engineer - Azure Storage. While working on the DataBox and Azure Storage Mover team, you will design and develop scalable services that deliver secure, compliant, and highly reliable data migration solutions. Your work will include architecting systems to meet growing data demands while ensuring privacy and security standards are maintained.


This role involves enabling new scenarios, maintaining existing products, and collaborating across teams to deliver solutions that move massive volumes of data to the cloud. You will work on distributed systems and advanced technologies that support exabyte- and zettabyte-scale transfers, gaining deep expertise in cloud storage and contributing to impactful solutions for global customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, OR Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in software design, development, and delivery experience using a structured programming language.
  • 1+ years of experience in driving projects and collaborating with teams.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in software design principles, patterns, and best practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • 1+ years of experience as a subject matter expertise in REST, service reliability, Security, Encryption and Authentication.
  • 1+ years of experience with Virtualization technologies, cloud technologies and storage technologies. Build high scale and reliable systems.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new features and enhancements for Azure Storage migration services using best practices and industry standards.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple software components.
  • Optimize and improve the performance, scalability, reliability, and security of the software.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and customers to gather requirements, provide feedback, and deliver solutions.
  • Lead and mentor engineers and provide technical guidance and direction.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and quality criteria.
