Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer for our data engineering team to help build AI applications and AI data agents on Microsoft platforms. You'll work with scalable systems, Build AI tools on top of petabytes of data using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Data Explorer, and collaborate with data science and product engineers to deliver insights through AI tools and drive our product strategy.
Our systems process petabytes of data every day that capture multi-million events per minute. We own the big data pipelines and intelligent analytics platform for all of Teams. The telemetry team's charter is to enable our feature teams to understand their customers and drive strategic investment to make customers successful.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year experience in building AI tools and Agents.
- 4+ years experience in data technologies.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in any of the following languages or equivalent language: Scala, C#, Java, Rust, SQL, PY Spark, Python, Rust, SQL, AI prompt engineering.
- Experience with Azure cloud.
- Data driven, customer focused and organized.
- Experience operationalizing and supporting services.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $114,400 - CAD $203,900 per year.

Responsibilities
- Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
- Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
