Azure Platform Security Services Team is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. We are responsible for ensuring Azure remains the most secure and resilient cloud platform with a special focus on confidential computing. We design and deliver secure, globally available cloud services that power Azure’s Confidential Virtual Machines (VMs). Our work shapes the future of VM provisioning covering everything from the control plane to the data plane. As part of our team, you’ll build cutting-edge technology that ensures security and scalability, work across the tech stack from cloud services to low-level systems design, and collaborate with experts to enable next-generation confidential computing in Azure. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software design and development, using languages such as C#, C++, C, or similar and experience with distributed programming models is highly valued.
  • Experience in building and scaling large systems, with prior experience in developing high-performance, online platforms considered a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of Windows client and server OS security and applied cryptography is a plus, along with the ability to dive deep into security features and innovate in this space.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of core components by writing maintainable code and implementing comprehensive unit and end-to-end tests.
  • Create innovative customer-facing solutions that expand Azure’s portfolio of Trusted and Confidential Computing services, helping secure workloads at scale.
  • Drive the architecture and delivery of high-quality, secure cloud services in Azure, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Analyze and optimize the full Virtual Machine lifecycle across both control plane and data plane, shaping how provisioning works end-to-end.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges by defining architecture, collaborating across teams, and ensuring code quality, scalability, availability, and security.
