Overview
On the Switchboard Team, we build the services that power Microsoft Teams and Azure Communication Services. Microsoft Teams has become integrated in the fabric of our community and is now essential for people in education, healthcare, business and families to stay connected. As part of the team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing real time service that allows people to collaborate over voice, video and screen sharing at hyper scale with highly reliably.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will be at the forefront of the AI/ML Transformation for RTC, building solutions that will integrate with ML models for next generation meeting and calling experiences. We're looking for people are excited about cloud-based web services and writing robust, high-performance, high-quality code. Together, we will tackle complex challenges that require engineering solutions to ensure that millions of people around the world are able to learn and work in this new hybrid environment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
-  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python - OR equivalent experience.
 
- 4+ years of industry software development experience
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large data sets, performing data analysis and generating ML models based on that data.
- Experience building highly available cloud services.
- Experience working on platforms that supported millions of users.
- Knowledge of communications protocols like HTTP, SDP, Offer Answer.
- Experience with web services, especially container technologies like Kubernetes.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Work on cutting edge innovations in real-time communications space, help shape global network to be real-time traffic friendly, develop highly available, scalable and reliable services, and bring new exciting scenarios to millions of users worldwide.
- Have the opportunities to use the latest Azure Cloud technologies such as Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Machine Learning to build predictive models to optimize Network and Compute performance.
- Participate in on-call rotation to help resolve outages, customer issues and develop ways to prevent future incidents.
- Analyze telemetry and monitoring to gain insight and improve reliability and performance for our millions of customers around the world.
