Overview

Microsoft Advertising is a rapid-growing business powering global advertisers across search, display, and emerging AI-driven channels. Our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) team builds next-generation CRM solutions that unify advertiser data, enable intelligent workflows, and deliver actionable insights across sales, marketing, and service.

We are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead execution for our Advertising CRM initiatives. This role spans the full advertiser lifecycle—from sales handoff and onboarding through activation and ongoing engagement. You will work closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and Software Engineers to turn product requirements (PRDs) into shipped outcomes, driving clarity, alignment, and delivery across teams.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience working with Engineering Managers and Software Engineers in a cross-functional environment.
  • 5+ years' experience turning Translate Product Requirements (PRDs) into shipped outcomes across multiple teams and systems.
  • 5+ years' experience delivering against roadmap with well-managed risks and no-surprise launches
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Solid command of risk/dependency management, planning, and release execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level updates.
  • Reliable delivery against roadmap with well-managed risks and no-surprise launches.
  • Measurable improvements to key outcomes (e.g., faster advertiser onboarding, higher activation, improved reliability).
  • Experience in CRM and/or marketing technologies (e.g., lead-to-live flows, integrations, customer data, messaging/journeys).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, including model training, testing, and integration into production systems.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Product Requirements (PRDs) into actionable plans, define milestones, manage dependencies, and mitigate risks.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering Managers, and Software Engineers to ensure alignment, unblock issues, and deliver on commitments.
  • Run status meetings, track progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Oversee development, launch readiness, quality checks, and post-launch follow-ups.
  • Define and track success metrics (e.g., onboarding speed, activation rates, reliability) and use data to guide iteration.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into CRM workflows. Understand how AI models are trained, tested, and deployed, and ensure responsible, effective use of AI in product features.
  • Raise the bar on delivery practices and contribute to team-of-teams planning.
