Microsoft 365 Copilot is a groundbreaking productivity tool that leverages the power of large language models, user data, the Microsoft Graph, and the web to drive unparalleled creativity and productivity. At the heart of this innovation is the Microsoft Search, Assistant, and Intelligence (MSAI) team, which drives innovation across the stack. Our team is responsible for powering mainline Response experiences on the client, which will surface on Copilots available across M365 endpoints.
We are looking to start a small team that will help users collaborate easily with Copilot. Towards this, we are seeking a talented Engineer with deep expertise in building user-centric experiences and a proven track record of delivering AI-enabled, scalable solutions. In this role, you will drive the vision and execution for Microsoft 365 AI, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, and extensive experience with UX frameworks. Proficiency in React is essential, as you will build reusable components and front-end libraries, enhancing the efficiency and coherence of our products. Responsibilities
- Ship delightful, AI powered experiences that will shape how millions of people will interact with AI in the future.
- Join a small team of world class engineers with deep frontend expertise who are obsessed with building beautiful and performant products.
- Collaborate with partners teams working on different areas of M365 Copilot Client.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive telemetry pipelines, Live Site monitors, and automated alerts to ensure robust service health and rapid incident response.
- Leverage data and telemetry to inform decisions, drive feedback into product design, and continuously enhance the usability, security, and reliability of our product.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, JavaScript.
- OR equivalent experience. Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with practical experience in developing web client applications deployed on major cloud platforms.
- Hands-on experience building component libraries or contributing to design systems (e.g., Fluent UI, Material UI, or similar).
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and secure coding practices.
- Solid command of accessibility (a11y), responsiveness, and front-end performance best practices.
- Familiarity with chat bots and NLP concepts is a plus but not required.
- Solid collaboration skills with the ability to work in a dynamic and agile environment.
- Passion for improving engineering practices and producing high-quality software.
- Self-motivated and customer focused.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
