Overview

The MSN Content Ecosystem & Growth (CE&G) team is responsible for building a content powerhouse with 7000+ active brands worldwide to captivate the attention of our 100M+ daily active users. CE&G is expanding and transforming content corpus from predominantly news to covering a wide range of niche topics. Quality and Growth of the content is instrumental to the success of the MSN feed across a wide range of products like Windows, Bing, Edge, and Copilot. CE&G ensures a healthy growing catalog and the trust and safety of all content leveraging the power of AI. CE&G has a culture that is customer and partner obsessed.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you will contribute to the systems that directly impact billions of users of MSN. Our mission is to provide high quality, safe and engaging content to the users who utilize our product. We use advanced AI and LLM-based techniques to serve high quality content to MSN users. We are looking for an engineer to build scalable systems and bring modern technology to CE&G.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.



Responsibilities
  • You will design and develop distributed software systems that are reliable, scalable, and performant. You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and cross-functional partners to deliver impactful features and improvements.
  • You will write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code, and participate in code reviews to ensure best practices are followed. You will also help identify and resolve production issues, and continuously improve the performance and reliability of our systems.
  • You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that meet business goals. You will be expected to take initiative, think proactively, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building and shipping production quality software or services.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience designing and building scalable cloud solutions in distributed systems.
  • Experience working with Service Fabric or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with building software systems that apply security best practices.
  • Dedicated to improve performance, availability, and reliability of services.
  • Proficiency in increasing efficiencies through automation.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $114,400 - CAD $203,900 per year.
