This group works across services and products to ship high-impact capabilities, improve performance and availability, and evolve platform usage. As a Software Engineer, you’ll design, code, test, and ship features for distributed systems and cloud services. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams, contribute to design documents and code reviews, and participate in operating services in production. Responsibilities
  • Designs, implements, and tests features and services for distributed cloud-based platforms.
  • Writes clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that meets team and product standards.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to refine user and system requirements and break down work into estimable tasks.
  • Participates in code and design reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Operates services in production, monitors system health and telemetry, and restores service as the Designated Responsible Individual (DRI).
  • Builds security into design, code, and deployment pipelines, applying CI/CD and automated testing practices to improve delivery safety and speed.
  • Learns and applies AI tools and modern engineering practices to improve availability, performance, and cost efficiency, sharing knowledge to foster an inclusive and collaborative engineering culture.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Industry experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google).
  • Experience with distributed systems, micro-service architecture, scalability patterns, and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience with REST Based API’s development, messaging patterns (e.g. Service bus, Event Hub, Storage Queues) and cloud storage technologies ( e.g. Cosmos DB)
  • Proficient in problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to debugging and performance optimization.
  • Experience leading technical discussions.
  • Experience in deploying, monitoring, and operating services in the cloud.
  • Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes.
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and version control systems like Git.


Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
