Group Finance Manager- Hardware Platform

exciting and fast-evolving team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy. We are

looking for talented and motivated individuals to help shape the future of our cloud products.

The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving

down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve gross margin growth. As a crucial

member of the team, you will support short and long-term investments leveraging extensive

modeling and competitive intelligence. The focus is hardware cost reduction initiatives from

product concept to production approval to ramp, keeping Microsoft Cloud ahead of

competition, while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments and

safeguarding shareholder interest

Responsibilities

The Cloud Hardware and Emerging Technologies team is responsible for the GM health of the

different cloud businesses through a focus on emerging technologies and hardware solutions.

The Compute Hardware Group Finance Manager is a critical leader of this team, ensuring the

Microsoft Cloud businesses achieve the gross margin targets by proactively optimizing our

roadmap investments from targeted hardware solutions. This includes decision support for

approved offerings, technologies, programs, and investments, defining financial models,

developing, and managing KPI’s agreed to as part of the development process, including TCO

analysis for optimization, and margin accountability.

Partners with senior business and commercial leaders to drive performance and strategy to achieve the best return on investment (ROI) and shareholder return. Guides team to focus on generating actionable business insights to drive profitable growth and shareholder return by being an integral part of the business decision-making process. Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • This role follows a hybrid work model and is based in Redmond, Washington. Employees are expected to work on-site in Redmond on a regular, recurring basis in alignment with business and team needs.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 15+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • 5+ years experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 5+ years work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 5+ years work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • Prior experience in product cost and/or product development finance is highly valued.


Financial Analysis M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
