As a Software Engineer II, you’ll:
Turn ideas into reality: Collaborate with experienced engineers and scientists to design, prototype, and deliver AI-powered and agentic solutions that make Office apps smarter and more intuitive.
Accelerate your growth in product engineering: Leverage AI in your daily work and processes, learning from industry leaders while applying your knowledge of LLMs and software engineering to real-world challenges and improve the Office product.

Responsibilities
Ship features with Product Management, Design, Science and Engineering. Coown scenario goals; translate product requirements into engineering work and solutions that meet quality/latency/cost targets.
Prompting and evaluation of LLMs to deliver on customer scenarios. Leverage AI tools to improve engineering development and processes.
Debug and investigate customer feedback and production usage and fundamentals of features developed.
Collaborate across engineering for code reviewing pull requests, reviewing design documents and techniques.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in coding in Python, Typescript, C#, Java or C++
OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ year(s) experience in experience in coding in Python, Typescript, C#, Java or C++. OR equivalent experience.
2+ years experience developing and deploying live production systems as part of a product team.
1+ years working with large language models (LLMs) in shipping scenarios
Demonstrated proficiency leveraging the latest in AI/agentic coding tools, both through work experience and hackathons or personal projects.
Ability to quickly ramp up on new technologies and adapt to rapidly changing requirements and technical landscape
AI Fluency: Knowledgeable about emerging AI capabilities and tooling; adept at leveraging AI-powered solutions to accelerate development, automate repetitive tasks, and streamline code refactoring.
Full stack experience (UX, middle tier, backend)
Hybrid work skills – clear synchronous and asynchronous communication, teamwork and collaboration skills
Experience developing task specific metrics and evaluation datasets
Customer focused, strategic, drives for results, is self-motivated, and has a propensity for action.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
