As a Senior Data Scientist, you will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to drive innovation and deliver personalized shopping experiences for Bing Shopping users. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and product teams to design scalable models that enhance catalog comprehensiveness, optimize product recommendations, and streamline search relevance. Your work will focus on uncovering actionable insights from vast and diverse datasets, developing robust data pipelines, and creating predictive models that empower customers to make confident purchasing decisions. By staying at the forefront of industry trends and applying state-of-the-art techniques, you will help shape the future of online shopping on Bing, ensuring a seamless, transparent, and rewarding experience for millions of users. As a senior contributor, you will lead by example, mentoring junior team members, championing best practices in data science, and fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- You will acquire the data necessary for your project plan and develop usable data sets for modeling. You’ll also update internal best practices for data collection and preparation, and contribute to data integrity conversations with customers.
- You will evaluate your team’s models and recommend improvements as necessary, drive best practices for models, and develop operational models that run at scale. You’ll also conduct thorough reviews of data analysis and modeling techniques, and identify and invent new evaluation methods.
- You will research and maintain a deep knowledge of the industry, including trends and technologies, so that you can identify strategy opportunities and contribute to thought leadership best practices. You’ll also write extensible code that spans multiple features, and develop expertise in proper debugging techniques.
- You will define business, customer, and solution strategy goals, and partner with other teams to identify and explore new opportunities. You’ll also apply a customer-oriented focus to understand their needs, and help drive realistic customer expectations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND some data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND some data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND solid data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
- Some customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
